"Crossroads to the West," a History of the Middle Missouri Valley

Posted August 19, 2024 by Archive Owner

“Crossroads to the West” was a series of short stories about the historical past of the Greater Omaha, Council Buffs, and Bellevue areas along the Missouri River, sharing the history of Southwestern Iowa, and Southeastern Nebraska across county and state lines and using primarily original documents. The radio broadcast covered the area's history before 1860 covering board canvas stories of the Native American tribes, early explorers, fur trade, Missouri River travel, Latter-day Saint pioneers, and the Mormon, Oregon, and California Trails. Learn about the people, places, and events of this the crossroads to the Great American West from Gail George Holmes himself.
